Fetal pathological evaluations

The aim of regulatory reproductive toxicity studies is to reveal any effect of an active substance on mammalian reproduction. External, visceral and skeletal evaluations are performed.

Embryo-fetal development studies are usually performed on a rodent and rabbit, although NHP fetal evaluations can also be performed. Soft tissue is evaluated using the modified Wilson Technique, and a bone and cartilage examination uses a modified Dawson Technique.

These particular studies are available as part of a toxicology study; learn more about standalone fetal pathologial evaluations.
